Bill Foege, MD

Bill Foege worked as a medical officer for smallpox eradication in Africa and
India for both WHO and the Centers for Disease Control. He was Director of CDC
from 1977 to 1983. He was Executive Director of the Task Force for Child
Survival from 1984 until 2000 and concurrently served as the Executive Director
of the Carter Center beginning in 1985. He became a Professor of International
Health at Emory University in 1997 and is now a Fellow at the Bill and Melinda
Gates Foundation.
